ABOUT THE
BOOK
Bigfoot has been a legendary figure in American folklore for almost a century. A
name that is used to describe almost any large, hairy biped in North America
ever since it was first introduced into common terminology, Bigfoot has always
been a source of curiosity for scientists. Is Bigfoot some sort of ape? How does
it survive? How does it reproduce? Does Bigfoot even exist?
A leading researcher of the Bigfoot phenomenon, Loren Coleman has penned a new,
comprehensive study of the creature’s long history that uncovers the facts in
this ongoing mystery: BIGFOOT! The True Story of Apes in America.
Coleman has poured over forty years of research into this book, which takes
readers from the first sightings of the creature to the latest Internet rumors
and scientific studies on the subject. In the process, he introduces readers to
the fascinating world of cryptozoology, the expanding scientific study of
unknown species and the paranormal.
In BIGFOOT!, Coleman addresses the most interesting (and least
talked about) aspects of the Bigfoot phenomenon. Some of the topics that Coleman
covers in the book include:
|
-
The recent admission that the Ray
Wallace account was a hoax and its ramifications on Bigfoot hunters and
scientists.
-
The sinister (and more sensational)
aspects of the Bigfoot topic – i.e., Bigfoot as the background for murder
mysteries, the “Bigfoot Curse,” and other dark side intrigues.
-
The never-explored examination of the
sexual habits of these mysterious creatures.
-
What outdoor recreation and increased
searches of natural habitats mean for the future of Bigfoot.
-
The role of films and television in the
creation of the Bigfoot phenomenon.

One of the world’s foremost
cryptozoologists and author of twenty other titles, Coleman supports his
assertions with centuries worth of source material, plus extensive fieldwork on
the subject. In addition, BIGFOOT! contains photographs of the
elusive creature, as well as pictures of physical artifacts that may provide
evidence of Bigfoot’s existence. Readers interested in this mysterious primate
will find no better guide to the history and future of Bigfoot than this book.
