Paraview Presents:
Conscious Planet: Our New Monthly Media Guide

Welcome back! Another month has passed, swiftly, with many developments. With UN weapon inspectors in Iraqi palaces and deserts, a drumbeat for war in the White House culminated in this week?s State of the Union speech. President Bush is still intent on making the case for war against Iraq, but so far without convincing evidence. In any case this administration?s approach of locking itself into the only alternative of war does not appear based on creative or brilliant thinking. Let?s see what the coming weeks will bring us.

Related to another crisis, that of globalization, business leaders gathered in their annual retreat in Davos, Switzerland, while their counterparts in civil society convened at the World Social Forum in Porto Allegre, Brazil. Both are different groups with different objectives. Having said that it might be helpful for these groups to follow French President Chirac?s recent advice. He calls for an extensive dialog among governments, business leaders, and anti-globalists to bring fairness to globalization. That seems to be a sensible suggestion. Who will start?

Here at Paraview, we have once again assembled quite an array of new books and information. Appropriately, much of our reading addresses many of the above crises, while other titles focus on one?s inner life.

Let me start with our first Paraview Pocket Books publication, The Seventh Sense by Lyn Buchanan, a veteran of the Army-CIA psychic espionage unit. He describes his experiences in that unit, including reading Saddam?s mind during the Gulf War. It might be time again for Buchanan to do some mind reading in that region of the world. In its recent review, the literary magazine Publishers Weekly compared Buchanan?s book to Tom Clancy?s work, except that Buchanan?s is based on real-life experiences.

We also have another first: our first Dutch author, Jurriaan Kamp, with his Paraview Special Editions book, Because People Matter. He argues that globalization and the world economy are not only based on money, but on human choices as well. He presented this timely book last week at the World Social Forum. A related contribution is offered by environmental economist Pamela Peeters, who explains in her article ?In Search for Sustainability? why environmental education is so important in creating a more conscious, just, and sustainable global society

If you want to spend some time improving your own quality of life, two other new books may be of help: Life Changes: A Guide to the Seven Stages of Personal Growth by Sabina Spencer and John Adams. This is fascinating reading for anyone going through life changes, and that includes positive changes. Last but not least, Letha Hadady?s Healthy Beauty shows how to use Asian herbal knowledge and other natural secrets to beautify one?s entire being.

Upon request from many of our authors, we renewed and expanded the Author Services section on our website, which explains how to get published with Paraview, how to organize a proposal, and how to promote a book. If you are a Paraview author or thinking of becoming one, I suggest you have a look.

Finally in our media guide we are happy to include information about some of our authors in the media: from radio to seminars to TV. If you are interested in their topics, please listen to their radio shows or visit a seminar. If you are an author, we welcome your input to make more of this information available.
